Prof. Omar M. Yaghi from the University of California, Berkeley, USA; visited our Lab. last Feb. 20-22, on the occasion of receiving his UNC Honoris Causa Doctorate. Dr. Yaghi was proposed by our Fac. de Ciencias Químicas, within the frame of the celebration of the 40 years of our CONICET Institute, INFIQC, and during the award ceremony, presented his recent contributions entitled: “How Reticular Chemistry will Solve the Climate Problem“. This event was held at the traditional Salon de Actos, of the Previous UNC Rectorate, in the presence of distinguished colleagues and national and international authorities. – 02/2024


Between Nov. 21 and 24th, 2023, several SuNaLab members will collaborate PhD training course “Sustainable Chemistry: catalysis using homogeneous and heterogeneous systems. Theory and applications towards sustainability”, at the College of Chemistry, UNC.  This course, coordinated by Drs. Laura Rossi (SuNaLab) and  Marcelo Dómine (Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, España), will be given in an in-person modality. – 11/2023


A project presented by SuNaLab members was awarded with a Marie Sklodowska Curie Staff Exchanges (MSCE-SE) Award, from the European Union (EU). The project coordinated by Dr. Alejandro M. Granados, was one of the four projects awarded from the UNC, and it will be developed during the next 3 years. – 09/2023

 

 

 

Ing. Jhair Peña Prada, PhD student at Dr. Bedford Laboratory in the UNSW, presented his results at the XXXI International Materials Research Congress (IMRC), held between Aug. 13-18, 2023, in Cancun, Mexico. The results of this collaborative work with SuNaLab researchers was entitled: “Studying the Degradation of Organophosphates Over Zr Metal-Organic Frameworks via synchrotron analysis”. – 08/2023


The B1 Symposium on Metal‐Organic Frameworks (MOFs), Coordination Polymers (CPs) and Porous Organic Polymers (POPs), Advanced and Versatile Materials for the Future, was successfully co-organized by Dr. Alejandro M. Fracaroli from SuNaLab, in Cancun, Mexico, between Aug. 14 and 15th, 2023. Different world-class scientists and referents in the MOF field, participated in this Symposium held during the 31st International Materials Research Congress (IMRC 2023). – 08/2023


Prof. Nicholas Bedford from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney, Australia; visited SuNaLab during Aug. 6-10, 2023. During his stay, Prof. Bedford gave a seminar at the Facultad de Ciencias Químicas, UNC, entitled Using Advanced Synchrotron Characterization and Modeling Techniques to Understand Structure-Property Relationships of Functional Nanomaterials. – 08/2023


Lic. Gonzalo Fernandez from SuNaLab, presented his results at the 15th Latin American Conference on Physical Organic Chemistry (CLAFQO15), Nov. 13-18, 2022, in Florianópolis, Brazil. MOF-808 supported Pd Nanoparticles as heterogeneous catalyst: a non-innocent support for Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions. Authors: Gonzalo F. Fernández, Irina Della Cagnoletta, Sandra E. SuNaLab was awarded an ONRG grant to develop a research project on Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) for the Detection, Capture, and Irreversible Fixation of Air Toxins  – 06/2020


Dr. Adila Mohamad Jaafar from the University Putra Malaysia, completed her sabbatical in our Lab, working in the project: Design and synthesis of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) for the formulation of fungicides utilized in peanut’s crops. – 05/2020


Dr. Alejandro Fracaroli from SuNaLab visited Dr. Kyungmin Choi´s Laboratory in the  Sookmyung Women’s University, in Saoul, Korea, within the frame of the Bilateral Cooperation Program signed between CONICET, Argentina and the NRF in Korea.  Although in this two months experience was focused on the study of Absorption and Diffusion of water in MOFs Mesoscopic Constructs, it was also a great opportunity to strengthen the relationship between both Institutions and the research groups. – 12/2019


From 5 to 8 of November, SuNaLab members participated in the XXII National Symposium on Organic Chemistry presenting the results of seven different projects. The conference was held in the city of Mendoza, Argentina. – 11/2019


Dr. Kentaro Tashiro from the International Center for Materials Nanoarchitectonics (MANA) at the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS) in Japan, visited SuNaLab during Sept. 16-20, 2019. During his stay, Dr. Tashiro presented a seminar at the Facultad de Ciencias Químicas, UNC, entitled Synthetic Molecular Sequences Inspired by Nature. – 09/2019


Dr. Alejandro Fracaroli from SuNaLab, participated in the last International School for Materials for Energy and Sustainability VIII (ISMES VIII) held at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), Pasadena, in July 21-27, 2019. – 08/2019


Lic. Catalina Cabana Saavedra from SuNaLab, was selected to participate in the SP Advanced School on Colloids, which will be held at Campinas, SP, Brazil, from Oct. 28th to Nov. 7th, 2018. – 09/2018


Dr. Kyungmin Choi, from the Nanoporous Materials Lab, at Sookmyung Women’s University, Seoul South Korea, visited SuNaLab last August 20-24th. During his visit, Dr. Choi gave an open seminar for the College of Chemistry on “Nanocrystalline MOFs for Nanoplatforms“. – 08/2018


Dr. Raquel Vico from SuNaLab jointly with Dr. Laura Fanani will deliver the Symposium “BIO-MEMBRANES: Dynamic and interactions with bio-active molecules and nanostructured systems”, this August 13th, in the Centro de Estudio e Investigación de la Enfermedad de Chagas y Leishmaniasis of the Facultad de Ciencias Médicas in the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba. – 07/2018


Lic. Martín Villanueva from SuNaLab, was selected to participate in the coming SP Advanced School on Colloids, which will be held in Campinas, SP, Brasil from 09/28 to 10/07, 2018. In addition, he was granted with a Exchange Program Fellowship (ELAP) to visit Prof. J. C. Scaiano Group in the University of Ottawa, Canada. – 07/2018


The workshop, “Introduction to a New Class of Porous Materials called MOFs and their Applications”, was held in the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia (UPCH), in the city of Lima, Peru. Between 9 and 13 of July, 42 students with different backgrounds had the opportunity to learn about reticular chemistry, basic topology concepts applied to MOFs, synthetic strategies, functionalization and material’s application in water harvesting, selective CO2 capture, enzyme-inspired heterogeneous catalysis, drug delivery, crystallography without crystals, among others. The students from two different countries had the chance to observe two different synthetic procedures to obtain HKUST-1 and MOF-5 crystals and participated actively on the proposed activities on the chemistry and application of metal-organic frameworks. – 07/2018


Lic. Martín Villanueva from SuNaLab, was selected to participate in the coming 2018 ACS Summer School on Green Chemistry & Sustainable Energy, to be held in the Colorado School of Mines, Golden, Colorado – 06/2018


Lic. Jonh Pinzón Barrantes from SuNaLab, was awarded the third place in the contest 3MT (“My thesis in 3 minutes”), which took place within the VIII Jornadas de Postgrado in the Facultad de Ciencias Químicas, UNC. The work presented was entitled: “Aggregation state of Amphotericin B when interacting with glycolipid βCD-C16” – 06/2018

Supramolecular Chemistry and Nanostructured Systems Lab members presented their recent work in this open workshop for general audience organized by our College, which where also part of the II Jornadas de Ciencia y Tecnología.


Dr. Alejandro Fracaroli from SuNaLab, will be a lecturer in the coming workshop “Introduction to New Porous Materials Called MOFs, and Their Applications“, which is going to be held at the Faculty of Science and Philosophy of Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, from July 9th to 13th. The workshop is organized by Msc. Fiorella Olivera Venturo and has the sponsorship from the University and the ACS Peru Chapter.


Last April 23 to 27, 2018, Dr. Laura Rossi from SuNaLab, dictated a PhD course entitled “Green Chemistry, its Principles and Applications. Catalysis” in the College of Biochemistry, Chemistry and Pharmacy, at the Universidad Nacional de Tucumán.


The magazine Nueva, highlights the development of MOFs as a potencial solution to water scarcity by harvesting water from air humidity  – 03/2018
The article comments on the importance of developing new materials such as MOFs in solving the problem of accessing drinkable water in different regions in the world. This problem already affects important regions of Argentina in particular.


SuNaLab was awarded with a ONRG grant to develop a research project on Porous Materials with Application in Detection and Degradation of Toxins  – 03/2018


SuNaLab was awarded with a CONICET grant to develop an international cooperation project with South Korea (National Research Fundation, NRF). This project targets the Preparation of Mesoscopic Constructs using MOFs Preparation of Mesoscopic Constructs using MOFs. 12/2017.
